Plans are a foot to provide a new clubhouse as part of a coastal sports hub on the Bournemouth seafront. A site has been identified at Joseph Steps and and plans have been put together by local planning and architecture firm Terence O’Rourke Ltd.
The Bournemouth Coastal Sports Hub will provide a home for a number of existing and up and coming coastal based sports (such as coastal rowing, open water swimming, triathlon, surf ski racing, stand up paddle boarding, beach volley ball etc.) and will also enable local education providers and community groups / organisations to access Bournemouth’s fantastic coastal resource. Its objective is to promote community participation in coastal sports and will be the first development of its kind on the south coast.
Bournemouth Borough Council granted full planning permission for the BCSH on 14th December 2011 and subject to securing the necessary funding, it should be open by late 2013.
